We have an "egg share" with our CSA this year. The eggs are beautiful, and surprisingly, not quite white: If you think a few of them look a little green, you're right! They are also delicious.
We had Arocana (sp?) chickens as a kid, and they laid green eggs. People never believed me until I showed them. Good, fresh eggs really do taste much better than the other type.
We do not have chickens, but we own a share of chickens. We are part of a CSA, which stands for "Community Shared Agriculture". It's where you invest some money into a local farm in the beginning of the year, and a farmer uses your investment to plant crops (or feed chickens) and then when the vegetables are ripe and the eggs start coming, you get to eat them. We go pick up a box of yummy things once a week. It's very nice.

ReplyDeleteI find this picture oddly disturbing.
ReplyDeleteDisturbing? It's a little out of focus, I guess.
ReplyDeleteDo you have chickens?

ReplyDeleteWow! That's brilliant. I wonder if that would happen in the UK?
