the jewish mother cracks me up. apparently I look Greek. I went into a restaurant in NJ in college to pick up dinner to take to my grandparents. The man who owned got all excited, "a new Greek girl!" and started hollering for his son to come out of the kitchen and meet the new greek girl. He asked me my name to introduce me and I said "Cailin" that flustered him, that is not Greek. But no matter - he started to press on. All this time I am saying "sir, I am not Greek." and he kept saying "but of course you are" finally I said, "my grandparents come in here all the time." who are your grandparents? I told him. the awful truth finally sunk in. They are as Irish American as can be. I took the take out and smiled at the really hot Greek son and left.
